Recent Releases: Holygood and Light Grey

Welcome/welcome back to the blog! Today I'm going to be talking about Light Grey's new EP, and the final single from Holygood. This is going to be an emotional post, but we'll get into that a bit later. So, let's get into this!

Light Grey dropped an EP titled, Are You Even Real. It's a 5 track EP, we've heard and reviewed 3 out of 5 of the tracks previously, those were Disassociate, PRBLM and Messed Up. I did full reviews of those tracks so I won't be saying much about them. The EP opens with the title track Are You Even Real, this track is fairly short, with a listening time under 2 minutes. However, when the track kicks in, it really does pack a punch. The intro had me feeling a bit weird, but I absolutely adored the track when it properly kicked in. It's got such a nice, and refreshing feel to it. I absolutely love this track and I think it's extraordinary! Then comes Messed Up, which I liked when it was released, and I like it now. It's a good track, I think it packs a punch and it's a phenomenal track. It's not my favourite track off the EP, but I still love it a hell of a lot! I think it's phenomenal. Next comes Haunted, and this is a mind-blowing track. this is a track that impresses the masses, or at least, I'd expect it to. It's punchy, it's intense, it's loud, it's anthemic, this is a solid track, and one of my favourites off the EP, I might even say that this is my favourite. I absolutely love it! It's one of those tracks I know I'll have on heavy rotation. I love every second of this track, and it's just extraordinary. It's followed up by my second favourite track off the EP, and that's PRBLM, I love this track. I've loved it since it dropped as a single, and I still love it just as much now! It's insane! I love this track and I think just something else! 100% recommend it! The last track on the EP is the first single, Disassociate. This in my opinion, is my least favourite track. This track doesn't hit like the other tracks, and I'm not saying it's a bad track, I just think it's the weakest track on the EP. It's still great, it's just when you have 5 great tracks, you're going to favour one less, and that's Disassociate for me. It's got a softer, not so intense, feel to it compared to the other tracks on the EP. However, that being said Are You Even Real is a solid 5 out of 5 lemons EP! I love this EP, and I'd highly recommend going and checking it out if you haven't already!

Now, let's talk about Holygood and their final single The End. When they started posting about this track, I did have that sad feeling in my chest that because this track was titled The End, that this was going to be the end of Holygood, and it is. Holygood are calling it a day. Now, I've been supporting this band since they were called Light You Up. I love them so much, and they will always have a special place in my heart. They're one of the loveliest bands I've ever worked with, and they've achieved some great things whilst being Holygood. They supported Busted, and that's insane! They've always been a phenomenal band, and I've always supported them. But, the time has come to say goodbye to Holygood. From the hits such as, Better Off Before, to their final single The End, they've been a solid band and one that I'm sad to see go. But, let's talk about the final single. This is a beautiful track, I love every single element of this track, and there are so many incredible lines in this song, and the chorus goes hard. It's not an overly heavy track, but a nostalgic, farewell track. It's the perfect song to end the band on. It's phenomenal, and I love every single second of this track, even if it makes me emotional that the band is ending. There's a beautiful tempo change where you feel the raw emotion in the vocals. This truly is the perfect farewell track, and I will miss Holygood so much. They've been such an important band to me, and the blog, and they've supported me just as much as I've supported them. This is the perfect track to end the band on, and I feel like, this track is full of easter eggs. There are so many lines in the track that reference Light You Up. The track literally starts with "I remember good days" and Good Days was one of the tracks off Light You Up's album, All We've Ever Known. "Do you still play that broken record?" Can also play homage to the album. The track even features the classic line of "Hold on, this is all we've ever known" and if you knew All We've Ever Known by Light You Up, that's the key line of the track. This really is a Holygood tribute to Light You Up in my opinion. This is a beautiful track and one that should go down in history. I love every second of it, and it's without a doubt a solid 5 out of 5 lemons track.
