Welcome/welcome back to the blog! Today we’re back with one of many posts I’m going to be throwing at you this week. I’m getting my blogging mojo back, and we need to talk music. So, today we’re talking about the debut EP from our friends in Good Hustles. On the 25th of February, they blessed our ears with their EP Apes.

Apes opens with the title track, and this is one of those songs that just makes sense as an opening track. The whole vibe of it is a great intro to the EP. I absolutely love the intensity of this track, and I think it’s for some beautiful tempo changes in it. It’s honestly just such a solid track, and I’m in love with it. This is definitely a great first impression on the EP, and it’s an incredible track. It really does pack a punch. This is honestly phenomenal, so much better than I ever imagined it being, and we all know I have high expectations for Good Hustles.

The second track is one of the singles we’ve had from the EP, and that’s I Think I’m Having A Heart Attack. This track is something else. It’s spectacular. I did a full review of it when it was first released and I still love it, and I actually think I love it more now than I did then. It’s truly just a wonderful track and if you haven’t heard it yet, then the release of Apes is a perfect excuse to change that.

The next track is Rent Free, which offers a different listening experience but it’s such a pleasant listening experience. It’s got some nice tempo changes within it, and it packs a punch. This is a really nice track. It’s got a great feel to it, and it’s just so different to what we’ve heard from Good Hustles before. I absolutely love this track. This is possibly in my top 3. Absolutely adore this track.

The fourth track is Smile but it’s not the same version we’ve heard before. This is the Cal Benson Mix and it’s just extraordinary. It’s got a bit more oomph to it, and it just packs a bit more of a punch. It’s honestly such a great track, lovely feel to it and it’s just incredible. This version made me love Smile so much more than I already did, and it did make me cry on more than one occasion because of just how spectacular it is. Incredible track.

Next, we move on to Coffee. We all know this track, it’s one of my favourites, and it’s just insane. It’s incredible. I did a full review of it, and it’s the same song we’ve all come to love. It’s magnificent, and like with Heart Attack, if you’ve managed to avoid hearing this track, take this as your opportunity to change that, because Coffee is such a phenomenal track that packs a massive punch. It’s everything you could want and more.

Now comes the song that will always make me cry which is Hold On. This is just such an emotional track for me, I love it. I love it live as well, and it’s a song that’s become a comfort blanket for me because of the chorus. It’s beautiful. Well done on this one Good Hustles. This is a beautiful track whilst still packing a punch. It’s got that classic Good Hustles sound to it, but it’s just beautiful and the lyrics make me cry like a child. The emotions are real with this track, and I always love when music provokes an emotional response in myself. That makes me love it more.

The penultimate track is another single we’ve heard before, which is Waking Up In Your Clothes. Now, I did state my thoughts on this track before, but I want to revise what I said because I’ve actually come to love Waking Up In Your Clothes. For me, it’s now a 5/5 track. I love it. I’ve had this song in my head since it was released, and I truly do love it. At first, I wasn’t a massive fan of it, but now it’s grown on me and I think it’s magnificent. Truly a phenomenal track.

The final track that concludes the standard version of Apes is Too Far. Again, I’ve done a full review of this track and I’ve spoken many times about just how much I love this track. It’s one of the best tracks I’ve ever heard, and I will always have a weak spot for this track. I think this is the perfect track to conclude the EP with and I love that one of the last things you hear on this EP is “Good Hustles”. I truly think that this is a wonderful track and I will die on the hill that Too Far is one of the best songs in existence.

In conclusion, I think Apes is a phenomenal EP, and I actually cannot comprehend just how talented Good Hustles are. They really did that! There’s a great variety of tracks on the EP, and arguably a song for everybody. I cannot comprehend just how insane this EP is! Truly magnificent. If you haven’t given it a spin yet then I’d highly recommend it. I’m going to have to give this a solid 5 out of 5 lemons! Not one bad track. It’s just insane. I cannot recommend this EP enough, and if you check it out then you’ll understand just why I love this EP so much! Please go show Good Hustles some much-deserved love and support!
