Call it Nostalgia by Raging Clue

Welcome/welcome back to the blog! Sorry for my absence last week, but I promise, I will compensating with multiple posts this week. So let’s kick start the week by finally talking about the debut album from Raging Clue.

Call It Nostalgia features 12 tracks and boasts a listening time of approx. 33 minutes.

The album opens with the title track, Call It Nostalgia, which acts as a short and sweet introduction to the album; with a listening time of just over a minute, this track flows seamlessly into the rest of the album.

Now we move on to Ruin, one of the singles from the album, and it’s a decent track. That’s the thing: Raging Clue doesn’t disappoint me, and this album is proof of why. I love Aaron’s vocals on this track and this track just packs a punch. It’s a great track, and I love the whole vibe and feel of it. It’s got a softer feel compared to some of the previous Raging Clue tracks, but I love it all the same.

Next up comes Numb, which, again, was a single from the album and one that I really liked. I loved this track, and I think it has a similar sound and vibe to as Ruin, but a tad heavier, with a little less of a refined sound. That’s one of the things that I love about Raging Clue. Some bands suit a refined sound, but Raging Clue suit a more rough, around-the-edge sound which just compliments the sound, genre and vocals that Raging Clue has. So, I love that about Raging Clue, and this track has some instrumental parts that just hit the spot for me.

Fourth track in, and a quarter of the way through the album, and we find ourselves a third way through the album, and we have Falling Down, which is one of my favourite tracks that Raging Clue have ever put out, and this might sound bizarre and niche, but there are elements of this track that takes me back to when I was younger and when I loved The Noise Next Door because there’s just some elements of this track that are reminiscent of that. So, the track is already giving me nostalgic feelings. But I do love this track. It is, without a doubt, up there with some of my favourite ever Raging Clue tracks.

Now, we find ourselves as the classic 3210. The track that gave all of us that nostalgic feeling with the classic Nokia tone as the intro to the track, and the single artwork for this, actually won best artwork in the 2023 Lemon Awards, and I just adore this track. I love this track more now than I did when it initially dropped, and I did a full review of it if you wanted to know my full thoughts on the track.

Moving on, we find ourselves at Ghost, which has a similar feel and vibe to Falling, and also reminds me of another track, but I currently can’t place it. It’s a great track, though, and one that I adore. But, I love Raging Clue, and they don’t disappoint me. So, I really enjoy this track, and I love the lyrics.

Comatose is the seventh track on the album, and this one has a slightly lighter feel but a slightly faster tempo than the previous track. Again, this is one of my favourite Raging Clue tracks. There’s just something about this track that has me hooked, and it’s a track I know will be finding itself on heavy rotation. It’s a decent track and one that I like it. This track has almost a Neck Deep vibe, and I’m here for it.

Next, we find ourselves at Timebomb, a short and sweet track. I don’t know what it is about this track, but yes, Such a vibe; the acoustic aspects of this track just hits the spot and compliments the lyrics of this track. This is giving me Misplaced vibes, and I love it. I, without a doubt, adore this track, and I think the lyrics hit the spot for me.

Kicking off the final quarter of the album, we have NYP, which is the polar opposite of Timebomb, this is a loud, anthemic track, one that packs a punch, and you would probably lose your shit, too, if you heard it live. It’s got a faster tempo, and for just over 3 minutes, the song exists; it uses those minutes. It makes an impact, and the lyrics, again, are relatable. I love the whole vibe and tempo of this track, and I just love it when there’s a slow track followed by a faster pace; it just keeps you engaged and makes each track stand out as itself. I genuinely adore this track, and it’s great.

Third to last, we have Hanging, another decent track. So far, we aren’t seeing the classic, weak ending to an album where the tempo of tracks decreases, and you slowly lose interest, and I’m thankful for that. It doesn’t have as quick of a tempo as some of the other tracks, but it’s still a whole band track that I enjoy. It's radiating State Champs and Neck Deep vibes on this one.

The penultimate track comes in the form of For Who I Am, and from the first couple of seconds, I knew I was in love with this track. It packs a punch; it’s incredible. It’s such an excellent track, and there are some nice little tempo changes in the track, and we all know I’m a sucker for a nice little (or big, we don’t discriminate) tempo change. So, whilst this track is a little over 4 minutes long, which is borderline for me, it’s still a sound track that holds my attention. I enjoy this track, and I'm sorry to sound like a broken record. The lyrics are great.

Last but not least, we have Over. The title track is short and sweet but a bit heavier, with a darker vibe. And the lyrics to this break the fourth wall, and I love that. But the whole vibe of this track is excellent, and the vocals are also great. I have no complaints about this closing track, and I enjoy the opening and closing tracks on this album.

To conclude, Raging Clue met and exceeded my expectations for this album, but I knew they would. Because, genuinely, they’re a decent band. They’re talented and one that I do enjoy. They have that more punk-rock sound in comparison to pop-punk, but they have a mix of both subgenres in their music, and I just really enjoy their music. And if you need proof as to why, then give this album a spin. It’s decent, and I’m happy to give it a 5 out of 5 lemons. It’s a good album, and it did exceed expectations. Give it a spin if you haven’t already.
