Ghosts by Protect Your Heart

Welcome/welcome back to the blog! Today we are back again, talking about our lovely friends in Protect Your Heart, who have just the other day dropped a new track with their pal Highsociety. The fun part about this track, is that we have the original version, or more so, the Protect Your Heart version, which has some electronic elements/aspects, but also has that classic PYH sound, that we know and love. There’s also the DATAMOSHED version, for those wanting something a little different, or for those who would prefer the track to have a more electronic sound to it.

Essentially, the best way to explain/fathom out Ghosts, is for you to give it a listen, and whilst both tracks feature the same artists, it’s easy to tell which is the Protect Your Heart rendition and which is Highsociety’s rendition. I, of course, have listened to both versions, repeatedly (seriously, anybody who isn’t new round here, are you surprised?). I genuinely, love both renditions of this track, whilst yes, of course, the standard version is my favourite out of the offerings, I do actually really enjoy the DATAMOSHED version. I really like that there’s two different variations of this track, as it has the ability to appeal to a wider audience.

The track itself, is genuinely, phenomenal. I feel like Matty has been telling me for ages about this track, and I can safely say that it exceeded expectations. I always have fairly high expectations, that every time just seem to get higher and higher, as each track just gets better and better. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again. They know what they’re doing, and they do it well. They always pack a punch, they always impress me, and this track is no exception to these facts.

I genuinely didn’t know what to expect, with this being a different track to the sound that we expect from the boys in Protect Your Heart, however, I truly believe it isn’t that much of a detour from the original, classic, sound that we know and expect from them. It just adds a little more spice and a little more of an infectious kick to the track.

There’s a nice mix of clean and rough vocals on this track as well, which we’ve sort of come to expect on a lot of PYH tracks, and I think it just adds another dimension to the track, and almost reminds me of Electric Callboy in a way with the electronic elements, mixed with the clean and rough vocals and the overall, pop-punk sound that PYH put out. There’s a lot going on with this track, but it’s decent. It’s a good track, and it’s honestly got such a great vibe to it, with the mixture of genres in which blend seamlessly together and compliment one another, whilst also grabbing your attention, and offering a unique listening experience. There’s not one element of this track that I can pick fault at, and I loved every single second of this track. It’s a great track that really goes grip your attention. From the vocals, to guitar, to drums, the whole lot. Every element of this track is phenomenal and I adore every second of this track.

Genuinely, I’m blown away by this track. Absolutely adore it. Love this track so much, it’s exceeded all expectations that I had, and it really did impress me. I’ve had it on heavy rotation since its release last Thursday. Honestly, please go give this track a spin. It’s incredible, it packs a punch, and I’m well and truly blown away with just how surreal this collab between Protect Your Heart and Highsociety, is. Please go show them some much deserved love and support.

In conclusion, Ghosts is a great track. Does it give some of my favourite PYH a run for their money? Not quite, but it does give some of the other tracks a run for their money. I think it would take a lot for Last To Love You, Close to You and Embers to be dethroned, but Ghosts does give the likes of Fall Apart, and Too Young to Die Alone a run for their money. And, I genuinely adore every PYH track, so I’m far from disappointed. I’m well and truly in love with the masterpiece that is Ghosts, and I hope you’ll give it a spin, and see why I’m more than confident with giving Ghosts another solid 5 out of 5 lemons. Truly, such a belter of a track.
