[re]introduction by Protect Your Heart

Welcome/welcome back to the blog! Today I am super stoked to be doing a review of [re]introduction by our wonderful friends in Protect Your Heart. We all know I love this lot, and I genuinely think they are one of the best small bands out there. Hell, they’re even better than some bigger artists. Protect Your Heart are just incredible, they really do know what they’re doing, and they do it so well! I’m always so blown away by their tracks, so when Matt asked me if I’d be up for reviewing the album, you knew I had to say yes! This has been my most anticipated release for the year, and judging by the tracks we’ve heard from it already, I have high hopes for the album, and I expect this to be one of the best albums of the year. Let’s now quit the rambling and get into talking about this album, track by track.

The album opens with the incredible, Best of Me. Honestly, I think this is the best opening track. The intro to this track sets the tone for the rest of the album, and it truly is a magnificent track. I believe this is one of two singles from this LP that I haven’t done a full review on, but I might be wrong. However, this track is true perfection. It’s got such a great feel and vibe, and this has been one of my favourite tracks over the past couple of months. There’s just something about this track that really impresses me and gives me that serotonin. The bridge on this track is everything! The bridge has been stuck in my head for about 2 weeks now, and I love this track. This is a solid opening track and one that I really do love. It’s a solid opener, and if you’re new to the band, will give you a great first impression.

Next up, we have, Closer To The Grave. This was the second track to be put out by the band, and I remember falling in love with this track not long after its release, and it’s still such a great track. I did do a full review of this track, and I still love it more than a year later! It’s such a great track; it’s loud, it’s punchy, it’s got a nice feel to it, and it’s just a genuinely enjoyable track. This track really does pack a punch and hit the spot for me. I’ve always adored this song, and I still love it just as much, if not more. This is another track that’s really grown on me, and I’m well and truly in love with it!

Up next comes the immense, Last To Love You. It’s a well-known fact that this is one of my favourite tracks, and it’s truly such an incredible track. Not much compares to this beauty, and I will forever love it! It’s such an incredible track, and I will never not love this track. This track has everything you could ever want, nice tempo changes, super catchy, and it’s just got the best vibe to it. The vocals forever blow me away on this track, and I have done a full review of this track as well if you wanted to know my more in depth, thoughts on the track. But this track is one I will never get sick of. I’m well and truly in love with it. This track is one that really made me fall in love with Protect Your Heart and proved to me that these guys were one of the best pop-punk bands out there.

Following on from that, we have Never Gonna Leave You. Another beautiful track and I believe I’ve done a review of this track too. I love that this track has a slightly heavier, dirtier feel to it, but it’s not the heaviest in any means. It’s just turned up a notch from the previous tracks. This is just such an incredible track, and it’s one of those tracks that gives me so much serotonin. I love everything about this track, and it’s truly just immense. If you’ve never heard this track, listening to [re]introduction would be a great excuse to change that. I really do love this track, and it’s incredible. It’s another punchy track and one that really does have a great feel to it. It hits the spot, and it does everything you could want it to do and more.

The next track comes in the form of, Don’t Count Me Out. This was the first track to be released by the band, and one that I really do love. I truly adore this track, and it’s definitely grown on me more since its release last year on the 3 year anniversary of the formation of Protect Your Heart. This is honestly such an anthem. The chorus goes hard, and it’s just incredible. This was an insane debut single, and it’s still an insane track now. I well and truly love this track, and again, I’ve done a full review of this track. I just love this track, and I love the placement of it on the LP.

Next comes my favourite, Worst Side of Me. I always say that I can never pick between Worst Side of Me and Last To Love You, but there’s just something about this track that gives it the edge over Last To Love You. This track is pure perfection and one that I really do love. I’d love to have this track tattooed on me if I could find the right lyric for inspiration, but I couldn’t. However, that doesn’t mean that I love this track any less. This has been my favourite Protect Your Heart track to date, and I will continue to stand by that, unless one of the new tracks on the LP wins me over. But this track is everything. This is the one I will forever recommend to anybody, and even in my full review, I mentioned how this track won me over, and I still stand by that. This was the one that put Protect Your Heart at the top of my list. True perfection.

Now, we have a new track, the first of 4 previously unreleased tracks, Close To You. I had high hopes for this track because Protect Your Heart just never disappoint. This track is so lovely. The vocals are beautiful, but it’s not a slow, toned-down track in the slightest. This track is so lovely. I’m honestly so blown away by this track, there’s just something about this track. It’s true perfection. I’m at a loss for words with this track; this has instantly made its way into my top 3 tracks from Protect Your Heart. There are some nice little tempo changes in this track. The chorus goes hard, and this track is truly everything I could have hoped it would be and more. Close To You is such a beautiful track and one that I’m sure many are going to fall in love with. This track is everything. The vocals on this track are extraordinary, and I know I’ve commented on the vocals before, but there’s just something about the vocals and drums on this track that make me feel a certain way. This is a track I know is going to be in heavy rotation for a while! This has to be one of the stand-out tracks on the LP for me. This may actually give Last To Love You and Worse Side of Me a run for their money. It’s just that good. Truly, so beautiful.

Up next is Sorry. This track has a softer, lighter feel to it. However, that’s not a bad thing. I do believe all good albums have a token show track, and for [re]introduction it’s Sorry. There’s quite a lot of emotion in this track; it’s beautiful. I tend to not like slow tracks as much, and they tend to be mood dependent for me. However, there’s something special about Sorry, and that’s because it’s got such an incredible tempo change. This is a track that could have carried the slow, sombre vibe to the track, but it’s Protect Your Heart, so they had to add that little bit of spice. I think it’s safe to say that, Sorry is incredible. This is another track that I know is going to be in heavy rotation for me, and I’m well and truly in love with this track. This is one of those tracks that could make me rethink planning on having just one Protect Your Heart tattoo. This again has to be in the top 3. It’s probably joint with Fireproof, and I’m just so blown away by this track. I love it so much. This is an absolute beast of a track. It’s phenomenal. There’s just something about this track that I’m in love with. This is a track that I know for a fact I’m never going to get sick of hearing. Truly, blown away by this one! Protect Your Heart has really killed it with this track!

Now we have another previously unreleased track, this time in the form of Take Control. This track follows on nicely from Sorry, and this is where we see the heavier tracks starting to emerge on the LP. This track is insane. This has a catchy feel to it, but on this track, the guitar is phenomenal. Saying that I can’t fault the bass, drums or vocals on this track, either. There’s just something about it, it packs such a punch, and I’m here for it! This track is everything. This is a track I could easily lose my shit to; there’s just something special about this track. There’s even a nice tempo change on this track, this truly is everything. I’d probably put this track on par with Never Gonna Leave You and Too Young To Die Alone in my rankings. This is still a mega track, though, and I know the more I listen to this track, the more I’m going to fall in love with it. I’m not saying it’s bad by any means because I’m still in love with it; it’s just not in my top 3. This is a great track, though, and I cannot wait to have this track cranked up to full on my daily commute. Honestly, really impressed with this track.

Moving on, we find ourselves back to one of the singles from the album. Too Young To Die Alone was actually the final single from the LP, and I did a full review of this track. I loved it then, and the energy of this track is on par with Take Control, so it makes a lot of sense that these tracks are placed next to each other on the album. I definitely like this track more now than I did on first impressions. This is a great track, and I still love the lyrics to this track. This track is great, and it’s got that heavier, darker sound to it, with the added spice of some rough vocals. This is a track that, whilst being pop-punk, pushes on the boundaries of the genre with the likes of rough vocals and dirty riffs. I really love this track, though, and it’s incredible. The tempo change on this track is everything. I’m a sucker for a good tempo change, and that’s one thing I love about Protect Your Heart, they always hit the spot and give me that good tempo change.

The tenth track on the album is Fireproof. Another single, and this is one of my favourite tracks. I adore this track to bits. This is one of my tattoo contenders, and there’s just something about this track that’s always really impressed me. This is everything. I still love this track to bits, and I think I always will. This track isn’t as heavy as Too Young To Die Alone and Take Control. However, it’s still just as catchy. It’s punchy. It’s everything. Considering this track is called Fireproof, this is a track I could start a fire to, if I was ever to be that sort of person. But it’s that sort of track. It’s an anthem, but it’s the sort of track to burn bridges to, and I love it. The vibe of this track is immaculate, and I’m well and truly here for it. There are still those dirty riffs and those slightly heavier elements, but it’s not so much of a heavy track besides from the rough vocals at the end of the track. Definitely a great track, though, and one I’d highly recommend checking out if you haven’t already.

The penultimate track is the final unreleased track from the album, and that comes in the form of Fall Apart. This is another great track; the lyrics to this track are something else. I love the energy of this track. This is a track that’s maybe not catchy, it’s not as fast-paced as some of the other tracks, but it does still pack a punch. This is a great track, and this is a track that I really do appreciate on the album. There’s just something really special about this track, and the lyrics really have won me over on this track. I know that this is another track I’m really going to get a lot of listens out of, and that bridge is something. This is a track that I just want to listen to on repeat because it’s so hard-hitting. It’s such an impressive track and one I’m excited to listen to more. I know this is going to be one of those tracks that the more you listen to it, the more this track will grow on me. I still love this, and I’d probably put this in 4th place in my rankings. There’s something about this track that’s different, and I’m here for it. This is a truly magnificent track and one I’m really impressed with. The lyrics are everything to me, and I know this may be a track that I have to consider the lyrics to and maybe throw this track into the mix. I love it. This track is special. And I’m here for it.

The final track of [re]introduction is We Will Never Be Heroes. Recently, I’ve been listening to this track a lot. I think this is the perfect track to end the LP on. I love this track. This is a catchy track, and one that I’ve again done a full review on, and I’m here for it. There’s just something special about this track. I love it. It’s incredible. It’s truly such a beautiful track, and I’m so here for this track! I’ve loved this track since it was first released, and I love it even more now. The lyrics to this track are incredible, and this to me, is a classic Protect Your Heart track. It’s just incredible. It’s everything I could have hoped it would be and more, and I do believe this is a solid track to end the album on.

To conclude, I think it’s safe to say that [re]introduction may be my album of the year. This was my most anticipated release, and it’s definitely met my expectations; in fact, it’s even exceeded my expectations. It’s got a great opening and closing track, and it’s everything I could have hoped for and more. I’m so impressed with this album, and I cannot recommend it enough! You 100% need to go and check this album out if you haven’t already. It’s everything. It’s an album that I’m well and truly in love with, and this may be the only album I talk about for the rest of the year. This is everything. [re]introduction gets a solid 5 out of 5 lemons from me! I’d even go as far as giving it 6 out of 5 lemons. That’s just how good this album is, and I’m so blown away by it. This album is going to be in heavy rotation until further notice. Please, go check it out if you haven’t already!
