Welcome/welcome back to the blog! I intended to do this post earlier in the week, but work got in the way, and then I went to a gig, so here we are! Today we’re talking about Downcast, Distant Blue, Pavé, and Protect Your Heart.

First up, let’s talk about Pavé. Now I’ve spoken about this lovely lot a few times and they truly are an incredible band. They released their latest single a little over a week ago, now titled Reset Me. This opts for a bit more a guitar-heavy sound compared to their previous singles, but that’s not a complaint. I’m actually a big fan of this vibe, and I swear, that chorus just won me over. The way it sounds, the way Alanya projects her vocals is extraordinary. Honestly, I love every single aspect of this track. It’s got enough of a tempo change for me to give it brownie points there, and there’s not a dull moment when listening to this track. It packs a punch, from the guitar, to the drums, to the vocals; every single aspect of this song is incredible. This is one of Pavé’s strongest tracks to date. It’s just such an insane track. It’s engaging, it hits the spot, and you’re legit wanting to listen to it on repeat. This is such a phenomenal track, and I truly am blown away by how great this track is. I didn’t expect to love it as much as I do, but this truly is phenomenal. You need to check this out without a doubt! It’s insane; if you’ve been sleeping on Pavé, then this is a reminder that you need to stop because they’re insane! Such a great track that holds a lot of potential, and I feel it will be adored by many. Overall, I’d have to give Reset Me a solid 5 out of 5 lemons. It’s insane, and I absolutely love it. It’s truly magnificent and one not to be missed. Go and check it out now if you haven’t already!

Now let’s move on and talk about Downcast. Now I love Downcast. I think they’re an incredible band, and at the end of January, they dropped their latest single from their debut album, and of course, a weight that I can’t stand is just as incredible as all their other tracks. I absolutely love this track, and I just love the way the track carries itself and the intensity of the track. It’s not a heavy track, but it’s got heavier, harder-hitting elements to it. This is just incredible. Downcast know how to make a belter, and this has me hyped for the album. It’s not as intense as britannia mills, but it’s still a great track, and I think this may be my favourite. We all know Catharsis is a classic, but a weight that I can’t stand just hits the spot for me. It’s got some nice little tempo changes in it, and every single element of this track is faultless. Honestly, I’m 100% here for it. Absolutely love this beauty, and I think it’s phenomenal. If you’ve somehow avoided hearing this track so far, then please go and change that. Downcast are killing it with this track, and I’m well and truly in love with this track. It’s insane! Cannot recommend it enough. It reminds me of like 2014/2015 Moose Blood (you know, before they got cancelled). That’s the sort of vibes this track carries, so if that’s the pop-punk sound you like, then give this a shot because it’s insane! This is the sort of track I expect from scene dominating musicians, rather than a small band. I’m here for it. This is another solid 5 out of 5 lemons track! It’s insane! Cannot recommend it enough! Where To Find Downcast: SpotifyInstagramTwitterFacebookYouTubeApple Music

Next, we’re going to talk about the latest single from our friends in Protect Your Heart. Now, there are some high standards set for Protect Your Heart now, because these lot released one of the best songs of 2021 in the form of Worst Side Of Me. So, I think it’s fair to say I’ve got high standards for this lovely lot now, and Last To Love You doesn’t disappoint. It’s a little more intense than some previous singles, but this is everything. It’s a great follow on from Worst Side of Me, but that chorus is something else! I also love that this is a track nearing 4 minutes long because Protect Your Heart are one of those bands that could hold my attention for a 10-minute track, so the longer the better with this lot. I love the beat of this track, it’s got some nice tempo changes in the track. It packs a big punch, and it’s just great. This is a truly magnificent track, and I’m well and truly in love with this track. I think I can safely say Protect Your Heart are one of my favourite small bands now, and I’d go as far as to get a tattoo for this lot. That’s how much I love them. They’re insane, they’re truly one of the most talented yet severely underrated bands out there currently. Last To Love You, is the sort of track I never want to stop listening to, because it’s just insane. This song is definitely going into heavy, daily rotation because it’s something else! It’s on par with Worst Side of Me, and I truly am in love with this track. Protect Your Heart never disappoint and I’m well and truly in love with their music. I’m so hyped to see what they put out next because they’re phenomenal. This is without a doubt a 5 out of 5 lemon track, I’d go as far as to say it’s a 6 out of 5 because it’s just that good. The standard is set so high by these lot, and I absolutely love everything they’re putting out. Such an insanely talented band! Please, go check them out if you haven’t already.

The last release we’re talking about is from our friends in Distant Blue. It feels like a lifetime has passed since we last had the pleasure of talking about Distant Blue, and that’s because we didn’t talk about any new releases from them last year. So, this is the bands first release since 2020, and it’s great. I expect nothing less from Distant Blue, the actual instrumental intro gives off the impression that this is going to be a slower track until Ed’s vocals kick in. I honestly love the whole vibe of this track. It’s almost like if The Ghost of My Empty Glass and Come and Join The Party had a child, that’s the only way I can describe this track. But, this track has a little extra spice when you get to around the 2:50 mark. That just gives the track a bit more character and I’m honestly here for it. That outro was unexpected as well, and it’s honestly great. Absolutely love this track, and I think this is a belter of a track. Distant Blue are back and proving why Notts bands are elite. I absolutely love every second of this track, there are parts I didn’t expect, there’s such incredible energy surrounding this track, and it’s just got such a great vibe to it. Absolutely love it! Every single second of this track was worth the listen, and this is another current favourite release. Distant Blue know what they’re doing, and if you’ve not listened to them before or not heard this track yet, go and check it out! Distant Blue are a surreal band with so much potential, and they’re a band you definitely need to listen to. This is another solid 5 out of 5 lemons track, and I’m so stoked to hear this track life and actually know the words to it, and just see what’s next for Distant Blue. Honestly, such a surreal band and track, go check them out! Where To Find Distant Blue:SpotifyInstagram TwitterFacebookYoutubeApple Music Where To Find Me: Here on LifeIsALemon more days than not, at 7pm (UK Time) TwitterInstagramFacebookMy Novel Small Band Appreciation Playlist (Spotify)For all blog related enquires contact me at myvoicebrandnew@hotmail.com
