Postmodern Teenage Angst by Clay J Gladstone
Welcome/welcome back to the blog! Today we’re back talking about our lovely friends from down under, Clay J Gladstone. It feels like forever since we’ve spoke about this lovely lot, and now they’re back, they’ve been signed and they’re kicking off this new era, in true Clay J Gladstone style with a new track, titled Postmodern Teenage Angst.
This track features the classic Clay J Gladstone sound that we’ve come to know and love, but the grungy feel on the track, isn’t prominent in the verses, as it has been on some tracks. However, those slightly rougher vocals on the chorus are where it’s at. The whole vibe of this track is a big yes. Similar sort of vibes to Dead Friends, but maybe a little more on the rock side of things rather than the grunge sound. And I’m here for it. It packs a punch and it’s really catchy. To say this is the first release we’ve had since 2022, this is a fantastic come back single. This is a mega track, and I am so incredibly proud of this lovely lot. They are just a ray of love, and they’re one of those bands like Better Anyway and Protect Your Heart, where I put them on a different level, just because they’re just so incredibly talented, and so incredibly lovely.
The drums are a stand out feature on this track, and I’m a big fan of that. The way the vocals and drums compliment each other, and then with the guitar and bass as well, pure perfection. And of course, we’re back with some highly relatable lyrics, because what else would we expect from Clay J Gladstone?
This is genuinely such a killer track, and whilst it may not beat the likes of Dead Friends and Sorry, it certainly give some other tracks a run for their money, and it might make it into my top 5 Clay J Gladstone tracks to date. The lads never disappoint, and this track is just further proof to that.
There isn’t one aspect of this track that I could criticise in the slightest. It’s truly just such a stellar track, such an absolute masterpiece, and a great way to kick off the new era of Clay J Gladstone. This track has made me hyped to hear what comes next for our pals down under.
Overall, it’s safe to say Postmodern Teenage Angst packs a punch, and it’s such a phenomenal track! The lads are back, and they’re here to remind us just how phenomenal they are! I’m more than confident in giving Clay J Gladstone yet another 5 out of 5 lemons on another release! Super happy that the lads are back, and super proud of them with this track! Please go show them some much deserved love and support!
