So the boys in the band have done it again, and they have just released their debut EP! And let me tell you, it’s a good ‘en. It’s a four-track EP and each song takes you on a magical little journey. And track three totally doesn’t make me burst into tears repeatedly every time I hear it… no… totally not!

So this EP was released on the 9th of March and you should really go and check it out because it’s incredible.

The first track is Close To You and I’ve already done a full single review on CTY, and I’ve stated my opinions on this track before so I’m not going to go so in-depth because a couple of posts back is my thoughts of it! However, the song has grown on me and I still bop along to it, but yeah not going to talk too much about it.

The next track is Funny Bones and YES YES YES YES YES. I’ve always loved Funny Bones and it’s such a little angsty song, this is the biggest bop on the EP, and I’m not afraid to say that, lyrically YES. Musically YES. Overall YES YES YES. It’s definitely the sort of song that makes you want to scream because it’s heavier than the rest of the EP (I’m not saying TMJ are heavy cause they’re not) and it’s comparable to Edge Of Your Knife which was 100% a tune! If you liked EOYK then you’ll probably like Funny Bones. Funny Bones is an anthem-like yes, hit me with this song, please. Hit me with it repeatedly.

Track three just makes people emotional, and if you’re like my little group of mates you all end up crying over it apparently. This track is Isley Walton, and it’s such a beautiful song, and it’s so emotional, and the emotions were even worse when it was played live, because nope (I’ll talk about that next week though). It was definitely a song that I needed in my life, and even if you’re not massive on TMJ then just listen to this one track, for the lyrics. For the meaning. For comfort. To quote A Day To Remember “That’s why sad songs make me happy cause I don’t have to feel alone” and that’s exactly what this song does for me, and if you are going through a rough patch and you want a song that makes you feel less alone then Isley Walton is there. It’s such a beautiful and moving song, and well if I need to cry then this song is going to do it for me. It’s such a beautiful song, and honestly, I can’t recommend it enough.

The last track is Cold Hands because who doesn’t love this song? Although half the time I’m too emotionally numb after listening to Isley Walton to fully appreciate this track. I love this track as well, I mean I have a Cold Hands tattoo so… It’s a typical TMJ song, and I adore it. The sound of it is like Kiss My Neck and Sex On The Beach had a baby and that’s what it is. It’s such an incredible song and it ends the EP perfectly. Like most TMJ songs it’s beautiful and I highly recommend it.

Overall the EP is a solid 5 out of 5 sparkly lemons and you should really go and give it a listen. 100% recommend this EP, it’s beautiful and incredible. It’s on all the good music places.

Check back next week on the 18th of March for a live review of Distant Blue and The Mocking Jays from the EP lauch show!
