Welcome back yet again, to another post where I'm featuring an artist I've never featured before! However, Ryan isn't a new artist to me, as I've been a fan of his music for months now, and Ryan released his album last week! It's called 'The Journey' and it's 11 tracks long! This is Ryan's debut album, and it has a big focus on mental health (with the proceeds from the physical album pre-orders being donated to a mental health charity), it lies between a few different genres, those being, emo, pop, rock and the likes of them. It's an incredible album, and if you've heard the singles then you know it's incredible!
The opening track is titled 'Stay With Me', and from the get-go, I knew this song would be a personal favourite. Anybody who's read one of my album reviews before knows it's crucial (in my opinion) for an album to have a strong opening and closing track, so 'The Journey' is off to a great start for me! The chorus on this track is pure audible bliss, and I'm obsessed with this track. I love this. I love all elements of this track, from the first to the last second I love this track. I think it's phenomenal! It's such a great and catchy opening track, and I cannot praise this track enough!
We then move onto the second track, 'Last Forever'. This again, is a track that from the opening gripped my attention, it has a different vibe to it, but I'm here for it. It's more of a pop track, but this track goes hard! It's incredible, and that chorus is everything you could want from this track and more! I'm pretty impressed with this track, and I like that this track is different from the opening track, so that you can distinguish the tracks from one another! It's a good track, and I think it's a sound Ryan has pulled off really well!
The third track is 'Call My Name' and, the vocals on this track are so powerful! It's a slower track, but that's not a bad thing, as it's still got a decent beat to it, and it's still engaging enough. I like this track, and I like that we're three tracks in and there's a good variety on the album. It's not my favourite track, but it's still a great track, and I like the variety. I think it's a really nice track to listen to, and the vocals are super complementary to the sound. Honestly, this is another great song!
Next up is 'Be Alright' and from the intro, I didn't really know what direction this track was going, but it soon becomes clear, and you can sense the change due to the build-up in the track. I like it, and there's a bit about halfway into the track that really does it for me! It's got a nice, positive, vibe about it, and it's got some great lines in it that I can pick out and be like "Okay, that's cute, I like that". This is a track that grows on you the more you listen to it, and I really do like it. I think it's a decent track!
Now, we move onto 'TOKYO' and this is another track, that from the intro you're almost unsure of the direction it's going, but it becomes clearer that it's similar to 'Be Alright' and I like that. It's not the same track, and you can definitely tell the difference between the two, but it does have that similar sort of vibe to it. It's still a good track, and it's really easy to just listen to. Again, it's not my favourite, but it's still good! I love the outro of this track though, which sounds a bit weird as it's the ending of the song but it's such a nice outro.
Track six is 'Perfect' and from the start, I knew this was going to be one of those songs that I just love. It's slow, it's not a heavy track, but it's cute, and it's nice. It's inoffensive, and it's nice to just have this sort of track on an album. I really like this track, I think it's beautiful, and some lyrics just make me wanna cry but, I love that! I think this is an incredible track, and I'd say this is one of my favourites off of the album.
Next up is 'Disappear' and that had my attention from the start! This track hits the spot, it does what you expect and more. It's an interesting song to listen to because of all the elements, but it's good! I love this, and I think it's such a cool track as there are so many different sounds merged into one track, and I love that! I also love the lyrics to this track, and some of them really hit me. I have to put this as one of my favourite tracks, it's just so interesting and engaging to listen to. I really like this one!
We now move onto the single from the album, that being 'Don't Play With My Heart'. Such an incredible track and I've thought that since it dropped. I think this is such an incredible song, that's super engaging to listen to, and there's just so many different elements on this track to love and appreciate. I think it's a beautiful song, and it's just incredible! Another solid track, and it's a really strong track, one of the standout ones off the album for me. It's great! If you haven't heard it yet, then you need to!
Track nine is 'Skyline' which has such a nice vibe about it. I love this track, I think it's such a nice track, and whilst being a softer track, it still packs that punch and has that edge to it. This is one of those songs that is so calm, and it's one of those tracks that if played live, it would just be one you chill and vibe to, you wouldn't lose your shit to it, it's just a lovely song. It's one of those emotional -but without sounding like you need to cry for 2 hours- tracks.
Second to last, and we now have 'Don't Give A Hell' and you just know, from the title that this is one of those bangers! You just know this track is going to be the shit! That's exactly what it is, that intro, the lyrics, the way the chorus goes so hard! I'm not saying this is a heavy song, but it's one of those songs that you get what you expect from it, and it's just incredible! The lyrics are everything! Honestly, one of the best tracks on this album!
The last track on the album is 'Dancing With A Cigarette' which is another incredible track! Listening to the lyrics make me think of various situations, and I love being able to associate certain songs with different things. So, of course, I love the lyrics to this track, but the sound is insane! Comparable to the last track, but I love that. It's a sound that works really well with the track! I definitely rate this track! Another great track and I'm glad the album ends on a great track because if it didn't I'd be left a bit underwhelmed.
Overall, I really enjoy this album! I think Ryan has done an incredible job on this album, and I'm really impressed with it. 'Stay With Me' is definitely my favourite track, and it hits the spot for me! It's great! I love this entire album though, some songs I wasn't massive on, but I still liked them. I wouldn't say there's a disappointing track on the album. The album doesn't sound like 11 songs just repeated, they're all different and distinguishable. I'm really impressed with this album, and I would highly recommend going and checking it out! It's great, and when it comes to my rating, I'd give it a solid 5 out of 5 lemons! It's a great album, and I'm going to get a lot of joy out of listening to it! It's great!
