Look Alive by After Elmer

So After Elmer is a pop-punk band from Rotterdam. They released their debut EP 'Look Alive' a few weeks ago on September 18th!

They followed me on Instagram and sent me a link to their music, and well, now we're here.

I'm here to tell you my thoughts on the EP and if I'd recommend it (I 100% would) and what I really think about it.

It's a 4 track EP, which is standard, and from the first track, I was in love! So, let's get straight into this!

The first track is the title track Look Alive. The intro to this song definitely engages you, anybody that's a regular around here knows that I love for a song to be really engaging, I like change in a song, I don't want to be the same thing for 3 and a half minutes! This song is incredibly engaging for the get-go, I love that so much! I love the pace of this song, and the beat is incredible! The vocals are perfection, and I just overall really love this song. It's so upbeat and enjoyable! I can see myself reaching for this song a lot! I really like it, it's a pretty solid song!

We then move onto Secrets, which again, from the get-go is engaging, and enjoyable to listen to. The bass echos in this song and I really like that. I love the lyrics to this, they're really hitting me in a place that I love for lyrics to hit me. I think it's really upbeat, and it's quite catchy. It's a great song to jam out to, and I can imagine it being a really good song to listen to on a drive. I prefer this track to Look Alive which I did think was going to be hard, because I loved Look Alive, but this song is something else! I'm in love with this track. It's perfection in a song! Would highly recommend giving this song a listen!

The third track is Talk, this is a slower track and it's calmer, less in your face. The vocals are super powerful on this track, and it's nice that the EP has that range. It's such a beautiful track with a lovely set of lyrics to accompany it, and whilst yes, it is an acoustic; slower track, it is just as incredible as the previous two track and I love it. I think it's a lovely touch for the EP to have a slow song on it. I really do appreciate this track.

The last song on the EP is Hatchet, this has a slow intro but don't let that put you off, because that's only for a short period of time. It soon builds up and it becomes such an incredible and powerful track. You would believe that after Talk that this would also be a slower track, but nope! It's such an incredible song, which is engaging to listen and it's catchy. It's a good song, not my favourite on the EP, but it's still incredible. I really like it, and I love that it's got plenty of change in it because that's very important for my listening enjoyment. It's a good track.

Overall, I like the EP, I definitely have my favourites (Look Alive and Secrets) but I do like every song on the EP. Every song is at least a 4 out of 5, Look Alive and Secrets are definitely 5 out of 5's for me. I really like this EP, and I'd highly suggest checking it out. Go and show After Elmer some love and support, because this is a pretty solid EP, and if you like your pop-punk then you could really like After Elmer. I'm really excited to see what they do next, and they're definitely going to be a band I listen to A LOT!

Now it's time for the bit only the band cares about... the rating.
I'd give the Look Alive EP a solid 4.5 out of 5 lemons! I can definitely see me listening to it a lot, and I cannot recommend it enough. Please go and check it out and show both the EP and the band some love and support!

What I'm Listening To, New Music Thoughts and What's Happening With The Blog?

Okay, so if you're unaware although, I'm sure most of you are aware, I started university this week. Therefore, I haven't posted as much as I wanted to recently, I've also just had some terrible mental health days and therefore it's made me feel very unmotivated to write. However, Monday posts will still be a thing. They always have been and they always will be. I will be posting my weekly what I'm listening to on a Sunday. I will post content when I'm working with a band on whatever day they desire.

So,
Mondays - upload day
Sunday - What I'm Listening To...

I want to bring you once a month ideally some new small artists to check out, I want to keep churning out as much content as I can. I don't want to go back down to once a week, not even twice a week. I want to be putting as much effort into content for you all if I can. I can't say what days besides them two I'll upload content because it's all dependant on ideas and uni workload and …

Blue by Give Me A Reason

So, Give Me A Reason are back with another single from their new EP which drops in 2 weeks! So I thought, why not bring you my thoughts on it like I did with Funny. So here we are!

I really didn't think that Give Me A Reason could beat Sad but then they released Funny and then I thought they couldn't beat Funny, and now they've released Blue!
Blue might be my favourite Give Me A Reason song to date! I cannot even put it into words just how much I love this track.

After about 30 seconds of listening to it I knew I was well and truly in love with this track, but then it hit the chorus and that was it! My brain had exited my skull, and I had turned into the human form of the mind-blown emoji!
The chorus is just so intense and insane! I can't get enough of it!

I love the rhythm of this song, and it's so catchy! Give Me A Reason really know how to make catchy songs that you want to listen to so many times.

Mattia's vocals on this track are beautiful and I love the l…

Flowers In May by Stay Free

So, Stay Free are back with a new track called Flowers In May, and I've spoken about Stay Free quite a few times now, and I really do love this band so I was pretty excited to hear that they were releasing a new song. So, I thought why not bring you my thoughts on the track! So here we are!

From the intro to Flowers In May I didn't know if I was going to like it or not, but I have found with Just Want You (their single prior to this one) that the intro wasn't my favourite but it did pick up fairly quickly. And, from the snippets, the band had posted on socials I was quite impressed with the song, so it was just that the intro wasn't necessarily my favourite thing ever. But, I wasn't willing to let that deter me, Stay Free are a solid band so I knew if I just trusted them then they'd impress me! We got 10 seconds in and faith was restored, I knew they wouldn't disappoint!

The chorus on this track is incredible, and that is the real winner. I'd be worried…
