Look Alive by After Elmer

So After Elmer is a pop-punk band from Rotterdam. They released their debut EP 'Look Alive' a few weeks ago on September 18th!

They followed me on Instagram and sent me a link to their music, and well, now we're here.

I'm here to tell you my thoughts on the EP and if I'd recommend it (I 100% would) and what I really think about it.

It's a 4 track EP, which is standard, and from the first track, I was in love! So, let's get straight into this!

The first track is the title track Look Alive. The intro to this song definitely engages you, anybody that's a regular around here knows that I love for a song to be really engaging, I like change in a song, I don't want to be the same thing for 3 and a half minutes! This song is incredibly engaging for the get-go, I love that so much! I love the pace of this song, and the beat is incredible! The vocals are perfection, and I just overall really love this song. It's so upbeat and enjoyable! I can see myself reaching for this song a lot! I really like it, it's a pretty solid song!

We then move onto Secrets, which again, from the get-go is engaging, and enjoyable to listen to. The bass echos in this song and I really like that. I love the lyrics to this, they're really hitting me in a place that I love for lyrics to hit me. I think it's really upbeat, and it's quite catchy. It's a great song to jam out to, and I can imagine it being a really good song to listen to on a drive. I prefer this track to Look Alive which I did think was going to be hard, because I loved Look Alive, but this song is something else! I'm in love with this track. It's perfection in a song! Would highly recommend giving this song a listen!

The third track is Talk, this is a slower track and it's calmer, less in your face. The vocals are super powerful on this track, and it's nice that the EP has that range. It's such a beautiful track with a lovely set of lyrics to accompany it, and whilst yes, it is an acoustic; slower track, it is just as incredible as the previous two track and I love it. I think it's a lovely touch for the EP to have a slow song on it. I really do appreciate this track.

The last song on the EP is Hatchet, this has a slow intro but don't let that put you off, because that's only for a short period of time. It soon builds up and it becomes such an incredible and powerful track. You would believe that after Talk that this would also be a slower track, but nope! It's such an incredible song, which is engaging to listen and it's catchy. It's a good song, not my favourite on the EP, but it's still incredible. I really like it, and I love that it's got plenty of change in it because that's very important for my listening enjoyment. It's a good track.

Overall, I like the EP, I definitely have my favourites (Look Alive and Secrets) but I do like every song on the EP. Every song is at least a 4 out of 5, Look Alive and Secrets are definitely 5 out of 5's for me. I really like this EP, and I'd highly suggest checking it out. Go and show After Elmer some love and support, because this is a pretty solid EP, and if you like your pop-punk then you could really like After Elmer. I'm really excited to see what they do next, and they're definitely going to be a band I listen to A LOT!

Now it's time for the bit only the band cares about... the rating.
I'd give the Look Alive EP a solid 4.5 out of 5 lemons! I can definitely see me listening to it a lot, and I cannot recommend it enough. Please go and check it out and show both the EP and the band some love and support!

The 2020 Lemon Awards

Seems like it was only last month we were doing this, but here we are! The Lemon Awards are back, this is where we take in every little thing that's happened with music, and we give awards to the best! I'm very excited to be bringing you this again! Every year, this get's bigger and better and is always the best post of the year! Most categories get 3 awards 1st, 2nd and 3rd! However, the best release gets 5 just because of the amount of releases! As always, there are physical certificates for the winners! I will in time hand these out to the bands, as I see them, and the one I'm unable to see, I am more than happy to post the certificates, and if some bands want them sooner with how unpridcable the future is, again, more than happy to send them!  So let's get into this! The 2020 Lemon Awards!  I have tried to make this as small band orientated as I could, however, there are some categories where big bands just had to make a little appearance.  Best Release;  10. W

Bath Salts by Holygood

The wonderful lads that are Holygood are back! On Friday they released their new track, Bath Salts. I swear Holygood are on top of the game currently. They’re really out here proving that they are a band that deserves so much more attention. They’re a band who you need to check out because they really are phenomenal. Of course, we all know Holygood are one of my favourite bands so I was very excited to hear they were releasing a new track! Although the title may suggest that this either 1. Holygood really branching out their merch game and not releasing a song instead releasing bath products or 2. Suggesting that Holygood were a big fan of bath salts and decided to write a love song for them. However neither of them are the case, instead, Bath Salts is a belter of a track with so much energy and change that it’s likely to impress many. Bath Salts is a bit different to the other tracks released by Holygood, it's similar to Killing Giants whi
