They followed me on Instagram and sent me a link to their music, and well, now we're here.
I'm here to tell you my thoughts on the EP and if I'd recommend it (I 100% would) and what I really think about it.
It's a 4 track EP, which is standard, and from the first track, I was in love! So, let's get straight into this!
The first track is the title track Look Alive. The intro to this song definitely engages you, anybody that's a regular around here knows that I love for a song to be really engaging, I like change in a song, I don't want to be the same thing for 3 and a half minutes! This song is incredibly engaging for the get-go, I love that so much! I love the pace of this song, and the beat is incredible! The vocals are perfection, and I just overall really love this song. It's so upbeat and enjoyable! I can see myself reaching for this song a lot! I really like it, it's a pretty solid song!
We then move onto Secrets, which again, from the get-go is engaging, and enjoyable to listen to. The bass echos in this song and I really like that. I love the lyrics to this, they're really hitting me in a place that I love for lyrics to hit me. I think it's really upbeat, and it's quite catchy. It's a great song to jam out to, and I can imagine it being a really good song to listen to on a drive. I prefer this track to Look Alive which I did think was going to be hard, because I loved Look Alive, but this song is something else! I'm in love with this track. It's perfection in a song! Would highly recommend giving this song a listen!
The third track is Talk, this is a slower track and it's calmer, less in your face. The vocals are super powerful on this track, and it's nice that the EP has that range. It's such a beautiful track with a lovely set of lyrics to accompany it, and whilst yes, it is an acoustic; slower track, it is just as incredible as the previous two track and I love it. I think it's a lovely touch for the EP to have a slow song on it. I really do appreciate this track.
The last song on the EP is Hatchet, this has a slow intro but don't let that put you off, because that's only for a short period of time. It soon builds up and it becomes such an incredible and powerful track. You would believe that after Talk that this would also be a slower track, but nope! It's such an incredible song, which is engaging to listen and it's catchy. It's a good song, not my favourite on the EP, but it's still incredible. I really like it, and I love that it's got plenty of change in it because that's very important for my listening enjoyment. It's a good track.
Overall, I like the EP, I definitely have my favourites (Look Alive and Secrets) but I do like every song on the EP. Every song is at least a 4 out of 5, Look Alive and Secrets are definitely 5 out of 5's for me. I really like this EP, and I'd highly suggest checking it out. Go and show After Elmer some love and support, because this is a pretty solid EP, and if you like your pop-punk then you could really like After Elmer. I'm really excited to see what they do next, and they're definitely going to be a band I listen to A LOT!
Now it's time for the bit only the band cares about... the rating.
I'd give the Look Alive EP a solid 4.5 out of 5 lemons! I can definitely see me listening to it a lot, and I cannot recommend it enough. Please go and check it out and show both the EP and the band some love and support!
