Live Review: Don't Forget Rupert

I know, I went to a gig that wasn't The Mocking Jays, I know, it's shocking. But let me say this now, THIS GIG WAS SO GOOD. So let's get into this...  Now I've been to 11 gigs this year, I've seen something between 20-30 bands this year. And let's just say, I've been working on this year's lemon awards (I know, it's only October) and I've had to redo the top 3 now, because Don't Forget Rupert just got bumped up... that's as much as I'm saying on that. They absolutely slayed, the setlist was solid. And they opened with Fix You and closed with Long Time Coming like that's the best way they could have opened and closed their set. It was insane. I talk about energy in the set's a lot, because to me the energy that a band puts into their sets, is often reciprocated by the crowd. The energy that Lou, Ben, Pete and Lewis put into that set was incredible. An example of the energy I'm talking about is, Lewis, Pete and Ben all goi…

Live Review: The Mocking Jays (Round 8)

Black Flamingos We're calling this black flamingos as a nod to the fact Jay was dressed as black as my soul, and Sam was just wearing a top with flamingos on... which if that doesn't summarise the mocks, what does? We all know I'm no stranger to seeing TMJ live, this was round 8. And I will say this was one of the best shows they've done. The two gigs at Rescue Rooms have been the best I've seen. I did take the mascot, and Stitch did sit on the barrier for a photo but I didn't keep it on barrier because I felt like I was going to drop it... I say this every time, the energy that goes into that set says a lot. Their attitude says a lot. If you haven't seen TMJ live, then try and see them live. You'll be pleasantly surprised. I've seen a lot of bands live, and TMJ is still one of the best. It's a good experience, and if you get the chance, take it. Even if you don't like them as a band, and you're not a fan of the music, still attempt to s…

Single Review: Get Fucked by Don't Forget Rupert

Get Fucked by Don't Forget Rupert (Click me if you want to be audibly and visually blessed) So let's start with the song because I haven't explained my thoughts on this song in depth. Get Fucked is a B O P Honestly, this song kinda just hit me and I'm left like "Well okay then, thanks for that". There's not one element of this song I can dislike since it came out I've loved it and it has a lot of potential to make it into the best of 2018 post I'll be doing at the end of the year...
Between the sound and the lyrics we have a very well rounded song. But it's a song that makes me want to scream, and they're the sort of songs I love way too much. It's catchy, it's infectious, it makes you want to scream... They really have hit the nail on the head with this song, but if you know me, then you know that I will argue that this is one of their best songs. Moving swiftly onto the video, HOW CAN YOU NOT APPRECIATE THIS VIDEO
I love when ban…

Single Review: Kiss My Neck by The Mocking Jays

Kiss My Neck by The Mocking Jays (click me to go to the music video) The Mocking Jays did that thing again where they release a new song that makes me cry at midnight. Now as much as I love The Mocking Jays, and I did do that thing where I got the opening line to this song tattooed on my arm, I'm going to give my honest opinion. I'm going to give my thoughts on the wonderful video as well as the song in general. So let's get into this... Now I've had the pleasure of hearing this song live 7 times now, and it's a great song to hear live, so obviously I was really excited to hear the studio version... because if you know me, you know I love this song a little too much because it has a meaning to me that no song has before, and I'm just gonna say 18.05.18. And the fact that though a HELL of a lot of dark days it's been like a comfort blanket for me. So this studio version was needed. Massively. And yes I cried as soon as I heard it... and yes I did listen to it…
