Live Review: The Mocking Jays Round 7

I went to go and see TMJ for the 7th time, and let me tell you it was an experience. I don't want to go off topic too much, but driving in Derby... in a storm... was definitely an experience. Didn't get lost though... just very wet. The Mocking Jays were the headliner, with support from Kid Kapichi and The Frantics. The gig took place on the 20th of September (2018) at The Venue in Derby. It was a Radar Love event, and obviously there was a horrible storm happening at the time so the turn out wasn't the best, but I was glad I was there, because although from my house it was about 40-45 miles (yes I put 90 miles on my car for this band), it was worth it. 100% worth it. The support acts were pretty good, I didn't make any notes or anything on them though, so I don't remember much of it. But they both were pretty good and Kid Kapichi are from Hastings where as The Frantics are from Notts, so I mean was pretty cool to see another Notts band, and they were pretty good …

The Songs That Are Helping Me Currently...

I have not been in a great place mentally, I fell out with my best friend, my mental health is taking a very big toll on me, my other best friend was involved in an accident (she's fine) but, I haven't been in a great place. But I got two new tattoos, and I'M SEEING A BAND I LOVE THIS WEEK (okay, if you're unaware, it's The Mocking Jays, what a shock... tune in next week for the review and probably a rant about how much I hated driving in Derby).
So, recently I've fell back in love with bands that I love, but I've realised just how much I love. This isn't a playlist, this is just some songs, and possibly why for some of them. So let's get on with this! - Laps Around a Picture Frame by Broadside.
I love Broadside, like I remember when the first album came out and I tried to get everyone to listen to it, but a lot of people shrugged it off... them people now love Broadside... well, mostly. Like, come on...
"I hate myself, I have no friends, just a…

Best Local Bands: Notts/Derby Area

This has been requested, and believe it or not, there's going to be quite a few. I might do a small band's one again, but currently, a lot of the smaller bands I listen to and know of our local bands to me. Technically, Notts is my closest city. But I will class Derby because I would travel to Derby for gigs, and there are some bands I class as local that refer to themselves as a Notts and Derby band so... let's get on with this. I'm not going to do this in like a favourites sort of order, this is literally just bands I like that are local.
You all know this one is coming, you all know who it is if you're familiar with my blog, or my Twitter or me. The Mocking Jays  On this blog, we love The Mocking Jays and they deserve so much love and support. There's so many posts on my blog about them, but they're a Notts band, and I love them. They're sexy, funky, dirty, pop. And they're insane, they're all lovely, they're amazing live. I've seen t…
